TL;DR
Here are the 7 key takeaways from all of the changes this month. ⬇️
We’re seeing the dawn of ‘Premium’ social media, where we need to pay to reach our audience.
We also seeing the start of AI being ‘baked-in’ to social media platforms. Expect much more to come here.
TikTok and short form video continues to be the best way to fight decreasing reach.
But…is a total ban of TikTok on the cards?
Podcasting continues to grow and LinkedIn and YouTube could be good places to leverage.
Collaboration with others and increasing interaction and participation on your are crucial for growth. Instagram are releasing lots of features to help here.
Building community around a specific topic has never been so important. We’re seeing lots of growth happening around ‘micro communities’.
Stat of the month
Whether your job is to manage social media in a business, or trying to grow a small business - spending time learning social media pays off. Not just in terms of business growth, but personal growth too. 🤓
Tip of the month
Sophie Miller runs the social media community Pretty Little Marketer. Not only is her content 🔥, she breaks down her own growth tactics for community building in this Twitter thread:

TL;DR
These are the 3 elements that have helped Sophie achieve this remarkable growth.
Commenting. Engaging on comments on both your own posts and strategically commenting on content where she can add something useful (or funny) to get seen.
Showcasing expertise. Sophie’s changed from “how to” to “how I” to position herself as the expert, sharing lived experience to build trust.
Reach and nurture strategy. Sophie breaks down her content strategy into 2 parts; Reach and Nurture. Reach content: gets her in front of more (and new) people, aimed at being more viral in nature, providing culturally relevant takes on the industry she works in. Nurture content: looks after the people when they follow and arrive on her profile, focussing on educational content that builds trust and credibility.
Quote of the month
We know that ‘consistency’ is a crucial part of social media success, but we often get in our own way by overanalysing and trying to strive for perfection.
Putting out more content leads to better quality. Creating content is a skill, and a skill takes practice.
